I didn't want to be there, and i guess my unconscious took over. i was rehearsing with a famously difficult live 'drum and bass' drummer. it was a warehouse, recently filled with sawdust and machinery. renovations. my bass and bass amplifier were among dangerous items. i knocked over a vise grip with sharp edges and that mangled my left foot. blood and a partially severed tendon. i saw the soft side of the drummer. it was a high point. he carried me to the taxi below and went with me to the hospital, all the while assuring me i'd be okay. i don't mind hospitals. i rather like them really, so his support was unnecessary but not unwelcome. we became close friends afterwards.
