Me: Hey, I was just calling to say I'm not mad. It was just awkward and abrupt when the hardware store was closed and it was just like "bye, see ya."
Him: OK.
Me: Well now you sound mad.
Him: I'm not. I'm not mad. I hear you.
-silence for a few beats-
Him: It's just that it seems like every time we say goodbye, it's weird and awkward and you seem mad.
Me: Every time?
Him: OK, not every time. That was wrong. I'm sorry.
Me: Most of the time?
Him: Let's just say some of the time and leave it at that.
Me: Well I wasn't, I'm not and now it sounds like you are.
Him: I'm NOT mad OK.
Me: OK, well I'll talk to you later.
H: OK bye.
